An attic or loft conversion is a cost-effective first option to expand living space in a property, perhaps as part of a longer term home renovation and refurbishment campaign.  Generally, the investment in a loft conversion more than pays for itself through increased property value.

With so many attic and loft conversion companies out there, why might you wish to engage us first?

In our experience, loft conversion companies are very efficient at performing the work, but are not particularly effective at determining the client’s total requirement.  Why is it that we have seen attic conversions where the client cannot see out of the windows?  Where a client was advised not to have any heating installed in the attic - and would have been cold in winter?  Where the location of the staircase cut the loft space in two and created almost unusable storage spaces?  Where the client was only asked for the location of the sockets and lights on the day electrician turned up?  ... and so on ...

An attic or loft conversion is like any other renovation project and should be planned meticulously from the start.  That is where we come in.  We apply the same rigorous client briefing as we do to all our other projects.  Based on your brief we produce a detailed floor plan showing furniture and fittings, an electrical and lighting layout, and a detailed contractor’s specification covering all aspects of the project (including bathroom suite, IT cabling, television if required, and all finishes).  We help you to choose all the other associated products to make sure that everything is within the total budget:  carpets, blinds, storage, ..., everything.  We work with a number of builders and loft conversion specialists and will run a competitive tender and negotiate with them on your behalf to save you money.  See why style within for more information.

loft conversion in Bath showing gallery-style staircase
Attention to detail is important if the project is to provide a practical space fit for a bedroom, home office or playroom.  The location of sockets, lights and storage should be planned from the start.  Indeed the eaves should be used as far as possible for valuable storage (put lights in here too).

The staircase should be more than just functional:  it should blend with the existing property. Here, particular attention was paid to extensive natural light including the novel gallery style staircase, that enabled light from the skylight in the roof to fall on the stairwell and otherwise dark hallway below.
