domestic: children's rooms
How to decorate a toddler's bedroom
By the time the children are toddling, primary colours can be introduced. They are stimulating and exciting. Here, Nick has combined strong colour with elements of black and white for contrast and interest. Not only are the colours important, so are the shapes and textures of which there are many here. The room is highly functional with high level storage, as well as shelving designed for the children. And the chalkboard is great fun...
How to decorate a toddler's bedroom using primary colours
Children often have favourite characters, so why not design and build things that you know they’ll love. Nick designed and built this very special bed, which is also highly practical, folding away the sides for under-bed storage.
How to furnish a baby's bedroom
Young infants need to feel comfortable. This is not the age to expose them to loud primary colours (unless you want even more sleepless nights than you have already). Warm, neutral schemes, with lots of soft furnishings, rugs and general cuddliness will provide a calming environment for the child. Sparing and appropriate use of stencils adds interest to the wardrobe.

Kids themed bedroom
As children move into their teens, their rooms need to grow up with them.  A small study area is often needed too.  Here Nick gave these sisters a bedroom with a grown up look.  The bespoke fabric panel, designed and made by Nick, took features that interested the two girls:  glamour, archaeology, and chocolates.  The  colour scheme was then based around this.  The opulent red chandelier was particularly good value.

child's bedroom wardrobe
Nick designed and had made these bespoke units.  He  squeezed bags of storage into this small bedroom space with a design for a future cabin bed with storage beneath, and other useful units.  The wall unit was designed to accommodate specific toys and books with cupboard doors colour-matched to features in the room to hide some of the clutter.  The wardrobe has three useful elements:  a lower drawer,  central hanging space (with additional adjustable shelves and an adjustable rail to raise as the child grows), and a cupboard above for items seldom used.
