A home refurbishment project to bring this Victorian house into the 21st century, whilst increasing functionality and natural light penetration into the living spaces. Style Within engaged an architect and structural engineer to implement the design and pass through Building Control. Party Wall formalities passed without a hitch. The main elements of the project were to remove a load bearing wall and build a small extension to create a kitchen-diner, install an understairs cloakroom, replace the downstairs floor with engineered oak, re-felt and batten the roof and decorate throughout. The project also required the installation of CAT5 cabling to serve the IT and multi-room music network. Many of the rooms received new, contemporary furniture to suit the look. We also re-felted and battened the roof.

recent projects: total home renovation
A skylight and extended folding-sliding doors provide much needed light into this stylish kitchen-diner. Vertical radiators free up wall-space and the “hidden” loud-speakers provide top-quality sound from a network linked to a hard drive and the internet. Contemporary dining table and chairs set the scene with stylish pendant overhead. The designer lamps run from a 5A circuit so can be switched from the wall.
This stunning staircase with its contemporary striped carpet and the extra wide oak board floor provides the wow-factor for visitors as they enter the home.
The lobby doors had some basic frosted glass. Nick designed and had made the stained glass, in-keeping with the property whilst adding a contemporary feel to the entrance.
This amazing chandelier hangs over the stairwell in this Victorian home renovation.
The bedroom design introduces contemporary glamour to the traditional setting. The designer blinds are hung slightly deeper than usual to allow them to lie flatter and show more of the pattern; they are fitted to perfection.
The fantastic side-table, animal print fabric chair, and designer lamp create contemporary seating area off the kitchen-diner for listening to music or watching TV.
Our Client was kind enough to provide a detailed testimonial for this project.
We installed a home IT system, multi-room music system and satellite TV. The client was able to rip his entire CD collection to a hard drive on the network and can now play any track through his high quality hifi in 3 rooms using his mobile phone as the controller. It was very easy to set up. He also plays internet radio and music from an on-line music library giving him millions of song-choices.
