This project was set in a fantastic Victorian property in Clifton. The clients felt that their bedroom had not had the same attention as the rest of their home. It had an eclectic mix of furniture gathered over the years, a large fan on the ceiling, a random sofa and heavy curtains which blocked out most of the daylight. The interior design brief was to transform this into a stylish retreat, increase the natural light and introduce new furniture. This project also presented the opportunity to design and make a bespoke headboard with touch-sensitive fibre optic reading lights, and for Nick to design the TV in Ottoman, upholstered in fabric to match the headboard (the TV lift mechanism is from Germany, with the Ottoman made by a local joinery company, designed by Nick to suit the existing TV with built-in DVD player). Ritz lighting was also installed either side of the dressing table to add a touch of glamour. The combination of roman blind with curtains dresses the window to perfection allowing natural light to flood in, and the two huge frameless mirrors bounce this light around the room. Nick also designed a new 5Amp circuit to control all table lamps from the doorway, and with new chandelier, the room has a completely flexible lighting scheme. Nick was also engaged as project manager for the implementation of the scheme, whilst also sourcing light fittings, furniture, and fabrics.
