Living with the out-dated country feel of this kitchen, and separate utility, our Clients decided to seek a more modern look. STYLE WITHIN Interior Designers were engaged to transform the space into a practical kitchen-diner. In so doing, a life-changing design was created for the clients who spend almost all their time in the new bright, inspirational diner now with glorious views of the garden. Practical and novel features also appear here, such as the separate laundry area for washing machine and tumble-drier (removed from the visible space to a useful cupboard with bi-fold door), a blind to screen a new further large storage cupboard (where a separate door would have caused a space issue), a glass splashback behind the range, and the new dresser in the same style as the kitchen, but with subtle differences to distinguish the two zones. Vertical designer radiators were installed to make best use of limited wall-space along with plinth heaters in the kitchen to take off the early-morning chill. A fire-rated glass kitchen door was found to allow light from the kitchen through to the hallway beyond. The opportunity was also taken to incorporate an under-stair cloakroom, and create a new patio. STYLE WITHIN Interior Design engaged an architect and structural engineer for the building regulatory and structural aspects surrounding the design. They also ran a competition amongst 4 kitchen suppliers to ensure that the Clients achieved a cost-effective solution. STYLE WITHIN Interior Designers then project managed the implementation, working closely with the builders and kitchen fitters to ensure minimal disruption, and allowing the clients to remain in the property throughout the project.
