We wanted to share a selection of stylish fabrics that we came across during a recent trip to Chelsea Harbour. We trawled the showrooms for designs and colours with a particular bedroom design in mind. As usual, we came away with several ideas for other projects as well.
Stylish fabrics
We agreed the general bedroom colour scheme with our client, then searched on line to see which fabrics would work. Our high end suppliers have invested in good quality images of their stylish fabrics on the web. When travelling to London, this initial research makes best use of our limited time in the capital.
The one fabric I was particularly keen to see in the flesh, as it were, was in Osborne and Little. Their Sabi Velvet Limpopo looked sumptuous in a striking aqua colourway on the computer. Every so often a stylish fabric will stand out for me and today, this was it. It was as great as it appeared on line, and the other colourways in the collection make this a real find.
We chose the styling and our trusted craftsman made a bed end chaise in this fabric with dark oak legs. Here it is.

Below is one of a similar design that we had made for a previous client also with an O&L fabric. This Pullman fabric was my flavour of the month a few years back, which I used in a number of settings.
Sample board
I was also delighted to visit the Robert Allen showroom and find the Truro in turquoise; this was a bonus. I’d not seen this fabric before, but the showroom had a large drape made up which had all the colours of our scheme. I knew instantly that this would delight my client. It would form the roman blind, along with two large scatter cushions piped in the Casamance fabric discussed below.
We were also impressed with the collections by Casamance and Camengo. We’d not dealt with them much until now, and their showroom was hard to find (!); but the vibrancy of their stylish fabrics is superb. We will be making curtains, a large buttoned headboard and a bed runner with Casamance Lido velvet in turquoise. Here is a taster…
I am a big fan of Harlequin products and, in this case, we will be using the Persia Fabrics in magenta as accent scatter cushions.
Altogether a good day at Chelsea Harbour – it’s great when a scheme comes together.
