Home office in the loft
Displaced from the main living quarters, an attic room is ideal as a home office. If you have a spare bedroom in an attic, perhaps you can also fit your work station in there.
Home office in converted garage
In this project we converted a garage into a stylish home office with bags of storage and ethernet connectivity.

Home office in a spare bedroom
Here we converted part of a spare bedroom into a home office with plenty of storage and integrated lighting.
Home office in the old dining room
As more homes adopt an open-plan kitchen-diner, people often wonder what to do with the old dining room. This is a great opportunity to install a home office. Here, we designed the oak veneer desk and shelving unit with lime green cabinetry to accommodate two work stations, with a third by the window. We hid power sockets and ethernet points behind the desk’s rear support panel, with cut outs for cable access.

Home office spaces
A home office doesn’t need to occupy a whole room, so consider spaces beneath the stairs, in an alcove or on a large landing. Here we teamed American dark walnut veneer carcasses with doors sprayed black.

New build
Every new build should consider a home office. If you are designing your own, specify all the lighting, electrics and ethernet requirements in the technical specification. Here we are installing bespoke fitted office furniture in American dark walnut with gloss cream doors and drawers. All cables are hidden so the space still feels like home, whilst having all the facilities of an office.
Disguising a home office
If space is limited, as it might be in a small apartment, we design and make furniture to hide equipment. Below, the workstation was located in the dining area, so we hid the screen and keyboard in a Georgian-style cabinet in-keeping with the rest of the room.
The keyboard sits on a pull out shelf to provide a knee space when required and the doors slide and hide to remain unobtrusive.

Home office electrics
The home office is usually a suitable location for the router and ethernet switch, although we’ve also fitted these in basements and in cupboards beneath the stairs. We fit plenty of sockets and install ethernet around the home, where wireless would be insufficient. Naturally, this fits with a home’s modern entertainment and you can read more about this here.

Home office lighting
Good lighting is critical for long days and nights in the home office. We install LED strip lights in wall units above a desk, as well as sockets for desk lamps and overhead recessed downlighters.

Home office furniture
There is plenty of choice for desks, chairs and storage. We design bespoke home office furniture to fit precise spaces – you want your office to feel homely, even if it is bristling with technology. We have written a separate page on our ranges of bespoke furniture.

Home office working environment
You will find plenty of informed advice regarding health and safety when working from home. From an interiors viewpoint, check your seating for comfort and support, that the screen is at the right height, that you have plenty of light in the right places, and legroom. For a bit more style, consider Eames chairs and find one that suits your budget.
