This blog looks at the pumped concrete foundations for both side return extensions. For the past 2 weeks the contractor has been excavating trenches and preparing the ground so that he could lay all slabs in a single pour. This included a patio slab for one neighbour.
New drainage
We had to revisit the drainage design with the structural engineer and building control officer. As we excavated, we found that the foul and rainwater pipes took an unexpected route from one neighbour’s property across the garden of the other. These arrived at a common inspection chamber contrary to existing plans. In so doing they ran right through the foundations of the new boundary wall. The excavation then uncovered a second inspection chamber that only served a third neighbour! We agreed to bridge the existing pipes with 3 reinforced concrete lintels.
Pumped concrete foundations
The suppliers pumped concrete from an adjacent side road over an access road and another neighbour’s fence.
If you need a large volume of concrete delivered quickly and cost-effectively, you should consider using a pump. Concrete pumps come in different sizes, with the correct number of elbows to suit the distance being spanned.
The concrete mixer poured concrete into the pump which then delivered the slurry over the access road and a further neighbour’s property to land in the target area. Contractors then levelled the concrete quickly.
