Having renovated our client’s residence in Wiltshire, she asked us to refurbish her dated 70s holiday apartment. Mindful of her special needs, we created spaces that were easy to clean and safe to use and navigate without appearing to belong to a senior citizen.
The main challenge was that these flats had a limited electrical supply (and no gas), and the kitchen was very small. We also had to pass new supplies from one side of the property to the other which meant taking down the kitchen ceiling. Testing positive for asbestos, we engaged a registered contractor to remove it.
Kitchen - before and after
With clever switch control, we were able to install a highly apportioned kitchen with flush induction hob, main oven, combi microwave oven, fridge freezer, and a small dishwasher. Shaker kitchen units were teamed with a quartz resin worktop and purple glass splashback above the hob. Luxury vinyl floor tiles, a vertical blind for privacy and roller blind for colour completed the look.
Bathroom
The old bathroom was dated with a bath unsuitable for our client. It now has a large walk-in shower enclosure with stylish electric shower. Underfloor heating beneath luxury vinyl tiles provides cosiness, with venetian and roller blinds for a modern feel. We also fitted a washing machine, tumble drier and multi-point water heater behind a lockable cupboard door.
Boutique bedroom
We designed this boutique bedroom with sumptuous carpet and aqua velvet fabrics – hotel-style luxury in a seventies apartment.
Upholstered in a vibrant velvet crocodile fabric, the chaise complements the floral roman blind and cushions.
