Our London-based client purchased this Bath property in need of considerable renovation. We turned it into a stylish family home.
Living room interior design
We redecorated the living room completely, replacing the treacherous laminate floor with an engineered oak overlay. Pleated blinds gave a modern edge to the design, and new radiators in the bay freed up space for more furniture.
A reproduction Victorian gas fire with limestone surround provided a focal point for the sitting room, flanked by illuminated alcove units.
Home theatre
Bifold doors opening to one side only gave easy access to the audio visual equipment in the left hand alcove unit, neatly hidden away. With the cabinet closed, a single controller operated the equipment via a magic eye, bringing the surround sound system to life.
Stairs and landings
We continued the oak overlay floorboards seamlessly into the hall, repainting the stairs and spindles with the handrail finished in natural pine. A neutral stair runner gave a welcoming first impression.
Bathroom design
The bathroom was poorly laid out with a central bath and large wardrobe! We transformed this to a hotel chic family space with large freestanding bath and separate shower. It now has plenty of light and storage, and is much easier to keep clean.
Bedroom design
A striped carpet lifted the master bedroom design, with plains elsewhere. Pleated blinds in blackout fabric for a contemporary look, fitted neatly into the bay windows. These particular blinds pull up tight for uninterrupted views through the windows.
The former shower room became a small home office with hub for the home’s ethernet. Our electricians re-wired the house completely and installed multi-room music cables and a surround sound system.
Attic room design
Our client wanted the option to accommodate a lodger so we created a self-contained flat in the attic. With a kitchenette and shower room, we built in substantial storage and installed internet and TV cables.
Exterior work
We replaced high level joinery with maintenance free products, and the rotting dormer cladding with realistic, wood-effect UPVC cladding. This immediately lifted the facade.
A stonemason rebuilt the side wall and pillar, and the exterior started to look presentable.
