Our client purchased a two-storey, listed apartment in The Circus, decorated in a range of bizarre colours and with outdated furnishing. We refurbished every space to create a stylish, contemporary home.
Drawing room interior design
With its dowdy appearance and fussy decor, the drawing room was depressing. We transformed it with contemporary aqua blue as the accent, inspired by our client’s new artwork, and complementing stylish, classic furniture.
To accommodate a record collection we designed a bespoke corner unit, with bifold door, and Georgian mouldings to match the existing. A pair of cube side tables, painted gloss white, and a range of architectural lamps completed the interior.
Each classic piece of furniture created its own cameo. This Ligne Roset Mama floor standing lamp was coupled with a Le Corbusier chaise, taking pride of place in the sitting room.
En-suite bathroom design
Having stripped, repaired and sealed the floorboards to retain the period backdrop, we installed the walk-in shower. Flexible lighting included a recessed light in the shampoo niche, and an illuminated mirror cabinet.
A tip for a bathroom mirror is to choose one with lighting either side, rather than from above. Top lighting tends to throw shadows over your face, whilst side-lighting is more flattering. Unique to this particular design was the polished steel toilet waste sleeved over grey plastic.

Bathroom design
We then overhauled the family bathroom with its horrendous orange walls and red carpet. Our bathroom design included a luxury vinyl plank floor, a bespoke canvas and a blind with images of Manhattan. We also used a contemporary window film for privacy during the daytime. To make the room feel bigger, we fitted a large mirror opposite the window to reflect light back into the room.
Dining space
The dining space doubled as an office and also housed a fridge freezer. We created additional freezer capacity in the existing kitchen, so that the fridge freezer could be replaced.
Computer station
We also designed and built a number of bespoke storage units to match the Georgian interior. This included a free-standing computer unit with slide-and-hide doors to close off the office equipment and keep the space tidy. We were particularly pleased with the bespoke glass breakfast bar. The shelf was fixed to the polished steel posts using ultra-violet adhesive technology, creating a perfectly flat surface for cleaning after breakfast.
The room was completed with a contemporary striped carpet.
Children’s bedrooms
We treated the teenage girls to a bespoke fabric panel made from coloured faux suede fabrics and images that reflected the girls’ interests. We disguised functional storage, and supplied colourful leather office chairs and a large desk. Matching curtains and scatter cushions with the red chandelier, the girls now have a glamorous bedroom to enjoy with their friends.
